Case summary from 7 Seotember 2022: Parties withdraw notification of planned acquisition of Maersk Container Industry by China International Marine Containers Group (Withdrawal of 25 August 2022)

The Bundeskartellamt closely examined the planned acquisition of all shares in and sole control of Maersk Container Industry A/S, Tinglev, Denmark and Maersk Container Industry Qingdao Ltd., Qingdao, China, (MCI) by China International Marine Containers (Group) Co. Ltd. (CIMC), Shenzhen, China, in a second phase proceeding. In order to avoid the prohibition by the authority under Section 40(2) of the German Competition Act (GWB), the parties withdrew their notification a few days before the expiry of the procedural deadline.
