Bundeskartellamt publication on “Algorithms and Competition“
16.01.2020
As a follow up to its joint study with the French Autorité de la concurrence on Algorithms and Competition the Bundeskartellamt has published a new paper on this theme. The paper appears in the Bundeskartellamt’s series of papers on "Competition and Consumer Protection in the Digital Economy".
Andreas Mundt, President of the Bundeskartellamt: “Apart from our proceedings, general policy work is of outstanding importance especially as regards the digital economy. The digital economy raises many new legal and economic issues to which we have to find answers. We therefore launched an Internet Think Tank as early as 2015. Since 2016 we set up an interdisciplinary team in the previous unit “Digital Economy, Regulation and Competition, Procurement Law” within the General Policy Division. On this basis the “Digital Economy” unit was created in the course of a restructuring of the Policy Division in 2019. The already well-established team works on conceptual projects and in particular supports the Decision Divisions in their work regarding the digital economy. It does this by also collaborating with other internal support units such as IT Forensics and Data Science and engaging in exchange with other authorities.
