25.02.2020

The Bundeskartellamt has today published its comments on the draft of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy of the 10th Amendment to the German Competition Act, GWB.

Andreas Mundt, President of the Bundeskartellamt: “We welcome the draft of the 10th Amendment to the German Competition Act. The Ministry's draft contains important further developments in the competition law framework to enable it to deal with the challenges of the digital economy and fulfil the requirements of effective cartel enforcement to an even better extent in the future.

We have already successfully concluded cases against large digital platforms in the past and over many years have developed extensive expertise in digital markets. A key aim of the amendment is to modernise the control of abusive practices. In future we will be able to act more quickly and effectively against the abuse of market power by large digital platforms.”
